Dr. Betty Baugh Harrison - Veterinarian

Dr. Betty Baugh Harrison, a native Richmonder, has resided in the city most of her life.

She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also played on the women's tennis team. Before attending Veterinary school, she spent four years as a tennis professional, concentrating on coaching youngsters at the National level in the Seattle area. She then made the decision to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a Veterinarian and was accepted to the VA-MD College of Veterinary Medicine.

Upon graduation, she worked in the Richmond area. As time passed, she came to realize there was a great need for a house call practice in the Richmond area. In 1998, she founded the "Visiting Vet" and was a sole practitioner visiting pets in their homes. Due to the need to provide clients with a hospital that could give exceptional care and diagnostics for pets in a warm and welcoming environment, she opened the doors to Betty Baugh's Animal Clinic in 1999.

Dr. Harrison has always had an interest in Holistic medicine and in 2006, completed classes in acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition. Today, she practices integrative medicine combining these modalities with traditional Veterinary medicine. In January of 2006, the Virginia House of Delegates recognized Betty Baugh in the passing of a resolution for her contribution in the aftermath of Katrina.

She and her husband have four sons and one daughter. They spend most of their free time attending various sporting events. Dr. Harrison enjoys training for marathons, practicing yoga, and hitting the gym. She also shares her house with a variety of pets from dogs and cats to birds, as well as her youngest son's reptile collection.
